Description

This is a genuine antique American dining side chair crafted from beautifully figured quarter-sawn oak, dating to approximately 1900-1915 based on its Queen Anne revival styling and construction details. The chair features a vase-shaped splat back with a shaped crest rail, cabriole front legs terminating in dramatic carved claw-and-ball feet, and a inset black leather seat secured with period-appropriate dome-head brass nailhead trim. Construction details include mortise-and-tenon joinery reinforced with wooden pegs visible on the back stiles, a lower cross-stretcher base for added stability, and what appears to be a factory inventory number hand-written in pencil on the underside of the seat board reading approximately 4483 and 2/6. Measurements shown in the photos indicate an overall height of approximately 39 inches and a seat height of roughly 17 inches, with the seat width measuring approximately 16 inches across, making this a standard dining height chair in solid, sturdy condition with honest age-appropriate patina throughout.
