This rotund little polar bear cookie jar is pure mid-century kitchen personality, standing approximately 11 inches tall and covered in a creamy white glaze with hand-painted red accents including ear linings, bow tie, and claw details. The bear clutches a colorful maraca or rattle decoration on his belly painted in red, yellow, green, and navy blue dots, while his wide dark eyes and open mouth give him a perpetually startled expression that never gets old. The removable head lid sits snugly atop the body, and the bottom shows a square drainage hole consistent with American art pottery of the 1940s to 1950s era, along with what appears to be a handwritten provenance note inside.
