The metal hardware clipped to the measuring sticks is a cast zinc or pot-metal adjustable carpet layer's clamp or gripper tool, clearly stamped with a patent number (reads PAT. 8. EXTENDED BIDDING: Bids placed near closing automatically extend the lot by 3 minutes until bidding stops.
