This lot features a stunning trio of clear, heavy pressed glass serving pieces, each boasting a distinct and timeless design. The centerpieces of the collection are two oversized charger plates: one measuring 11 ½ inches in diameter with a crisp, geometric "snowflake" or starburst motif, and another measuring 12 ½ inches featuring a mesmerizing, tight radial swirl pattern. Complementing the plates is a substantial glass bowl, 13 inches in diameter, which utilizes wide, curved ribbing to create a petal-like silhouette. This set is unmarked, allowing the brilliant clarity of the glass and the intricate play of light within the patterns to take center stage.
The craftsmanship of these pieces suggests a mid-to-late 20th-century origin, designed for both durability and aesthetic appeal. The snowflake plate offers a classic, structured look perfect for holiday gatherings or formal dinners, while the swirled plate provides a more fluid, contemporary energy. The large bowl is particularly impressive, with its heavy construction and scalloped rim making it an ideal choice for a striking fruit display, a punch bowl, or a centerpiece for large-scale entertaining.
Conditioned for immediate use or display, this collection is perfect for the host who appreciates the "clear glass" aesthetic that seamlessly blends with any china pattern or table decor. The varied textures—from the sharp lines of the starburst to the soft curves of the bowl—ensure that these pieces will capture and refract light beautifully under any dining room chandelier. Whether used as individual statement pieces or as a coordinated serving set, this collection offers a sophisticated touch of vintage charm to the modern home.
Probable Identification of Pieces:
This piece is a classic Federal Glass Co. design.
This pattern is likely "Colony" (also known as "Colony Swirl") by Fostoria Glass.
This piece is often attributed to Federal Glass (the "Petal" line) or Indiana Glass, though 13 inches is an exceptionally large size for these patterns.
