Description

Pair of vintage Fred Arbogast Musky Jitterbug No. 700 topwater fishing lures, accompanied by two original yellow display boxes and two Fred Arbogast “Bait of Champions” pocket catalogs. The Musky Jitterbug is the oversized version of Arbogast's classic surface lure, measuring approximately 4½ inches in body length and fitted with the distinctive double-cupped metal diving/surface-action lip and multiple treble hooks.

One lure is finished in Arbogast's No. 06 Frog/White Belly pattern, featuring a yellow-green upper body with irregular black frog markings and a light underside. One accompanying No. 700 box is marked “06,” corresponding to Arbogast's established Frog/White Belly color designation. 

The second lure features a Silver Scale/Silver Flash-style pattern, with a metallic silver scale treatment across the upper body transitioning to a lighter underside. Both retain their Fred Arbogast Musky Jitterbug configuration with large metal lips and treble-hook hardware. The included yellow boxes are marked “MUSKY JITTERBUG,” “Fred Arbogast – Bait of Champions,” and “No. 700.”

Also included are two folding Fred Arbogast pocket catalogs illustrating the company's Jitterbug, Hula Popper, Pug-Nose, Stickleback, Mud-Bug, Arbo-Gaster and other period lures. Based on the packaging, company/address markings, lure construction and associated literature, these examples are consistent with late-1970s to 1980s Arbogast production. The combination of two Musky Jitterbugs with their period boxes and accompanying catalogs makes this a particularly complete vintage Arbogast grouping.
