Description

This antique baitcasting fishing reel was manufactured by B.F. Meek & Sons in Louisville, Kentucky. Constructed from nickel-plated brass, the reel side plate is stamped with the maker's logo reading "BLUE GRASS REEL MADE BY B.F. MEEK & SONS LOUISVILLE KY. No 33". The opposing side plate is stamped with "PAT. JUL. 5. 04 PATENT PENDING," marking its design to the early 1900s following the July 1904 patent date. 

The reel features an open skeleton frame structure with knurled end rims, an offset crank arm fitted with a bone or early celluoid handle knob, and an integrated foot plate for mounting to a fishing rod. Designed as a precision baitcasting reel during the golden era of Kentucky reel making, it represents collectible sporting gear from a historic American tackle manufacturer.
