Description

This side chair is the kind of piece that walked into a thousand church basements, school offices, and beauty parlors and never got the credit it deserved. The frame is solid maple with squared tapered legs showing honest wear at the feet, a structural stretcher across the back, and a warm honey tone throughout. The upholstery is original cream naugahyde featuring a fat biscuit-style seat with welt cord trim, a boxy back panel with two decorative square button details on the front face, and a full perimeter of dome nailhead tacking on the reverse side holding everything together with old-school conviction. Condition is as-expected vintage with surface soiling, cracking at the naugahyde edges, some rust bleed around the nailheads, light scratching on the seat surface, and leg tip wear, but the frame is sturdy and the bones are absolutely there for a stunning reupholstery project.
