Fat-top storage trunk measuring approximately 38 inches wide by 23 inches deep by 27 inches tall, constructed of solid hand-cut pine boards held together with hand-forged iron strap hardware that has aged to a beautiful dark patina. The exterior wears its original dark grey-brown milk paint over what appears to be an earlier finish, with the honest wear and checking you only get from a century or two of hard use, including a working iron hasp-and-staple lock mechanism on the front and a forged iron ring bail handle on each end. The interior is the real showstopper, retaining remnants of a delicate blue-green botanical wallpaper or painted stencil pattern on the side walls, pointing to a careful owner who wanted even the inside to feel like home, while the wide-plank pine bottom shows the beautiful silver-grey age of old-growth timber. Construction details including the hand-cut boards, wrought iron hardware with peened-over clinch nails, and the absence of machine-cut elements strongly suggest an 18th to early 19th century design.

6. BUYER’S PREMIUM & TAX: A 12% Buyer’s Premium and applicable sales tax will be added to all purchases.

8. EXTENDED BIDDING: Bids placed near closing automatically extend the lot by 3 minutes until bidding stops.
