Description

This striking wall mirror is intentionally hung on the diagonal in a bold diamond orientation, immediately setting it apart from anything you have seen hanging on a wall before. The outer frame is a heavily carved dark wood, stained nearly ebony, and features dense foliate and scroll motifs running continuously around all four sides, with decorative cast metal corner hook accents that appear to have served a functional hanging or display purpose. A secondary inner frame of gilt gold beaded trim surrounds the beveled mirror glass, providing a warm contrast to the near-black carved surround and showing the hallmarks of late Victorian or Edwardian-era framing craftsmanship. The mirror glass shows some foxing and age spotting consistent with genuine antiquity, the carved outer frame has honest wear at the corners and mitered joints, and the raw wood visible at the edges reveals solid construction beneath the dark finish.

6. BUYER’S PREMIUM & TAX: A 12% Buyer’s Premium and applicable sales tax will be added to all purchases.

8. EXTENDED BIDDING: Bids placed near closing automatically extend the lot by 3 minutes until bidding stops.
