Description
This Howard Miller Model 610-208 grandfather clock, commonly referred to as the “St. Regis” and associated with the Connoisseur series, was manufactured in the mid-1980s, typically dated to approximately 1984–1986. The tall case measures approximately 84 inches high by 25 ¾ inches wide and 15 ½ inches deep, and is finished in Oak Yorkshire. The case features a swan-neck pediment with decorative shell overlay, with front and side base panels accented by Carpathian elm burl.
The brass dial includes applied corner spandrels and an astrologically correct moon phase disc, along with a subsidiary seconds dial positioned just below the 12 o’clock numeral. The clock is fitted with beveled door glass featuring a 22K gold-applied design, allowing full view of the polished brass lyre pendulum and three matching weights. Dial and case details are consistent with Howard Miller’s higher-grade production from this period.
This clock is powered by a cable-driven German mechanical movement offering triple-chime selection, including Westminster, Whittington, and St. Michael (Winchester). The movement is identified as Model 610-208, and original manufacturer instructions are present on the interior back panel. The clock bears serial number 61947 and is additionally stamped on the back with the number 01180426, confirming factory production details.
Overall, this example represents a well-documented Howard Miller floor clock from the company’s Connoisseur line, combining traditional casework, decorative brass dial elements, and a multi-chime mechanical movement typical of Howard Miller’s upper-tier offerings during the 1980s.
