Description

This showstopper of a table lamp marries classical antiquity with Victorian parlor drama in one gloriously over-the-top package. The shaft is a tessellated cylindrical column clad in what appears to be inlaid bone or faux-ivory tile segments, topped with a richly detailed Corinthian-style capital rendered in silver and bronze-toned metal with scrollwork, acanthus leaves, and egg-and-dart molding. The square base continues the classical theme with bold acanthus leaf castings in a pewter-silver finish over a brass-toned stepped plinth with rope-twist border detailing. The pagoda-style shade is a fabric confection in dusty rose silk with dark braided gimp trim, a gathered pink satin top band, a shell-form brass finial, and a scalloped lower apron that gives the whole piece an unmistakably Hollywood Regency personality. The socket is marked Sun-Lite, rated 250W 250V. The cord exits cleanly through the base, which shows a painted black underside with rubber feet and minor age wear entirely consistent with a well-loved decorative piece.
