Description

This substantial studio pottery vessel stands approximately 14 inches tall and commands attention with its egg-shaped stoneware form topped by a tiny pinched spout that looks like it just decided to exist. The upper half features a dramatic abstract glaze composition in swirling white, sage green, cobalt blue, and warm amber ochre, applied with the confidence of an artist who knows exactly what they are doing and exactly when to stop. The lower body is left in a raw speckled matte grey stoneware that beautifully contrasts the glossy painted upper section, with subtle throwing rings still visible in the clay. The base bears a small impressed rectangular maker's stamp that appears to read initials within a cartouche, consistent with a studio potter's personal seal from the late 20th century American craft movement.
