This lot features a set of four antique Morrison Brothers Co. pressure vacuum vents, commonly referred to as tank vents, manufactured in Dubuque, Iowa. Each vent is cast with “MORRISON BROS,” “DUBUQUE IOWA,” and “FIG 149 HV” markings and retains its original industrial form with heavy cast brass or bronze construction and naturally aged verdigris patina throughout. These vents were designed for petroleum, fuel, oil, or chemical storage tanks, allowing tanks to safely regulate internal pressure and vacuum during filling or draining operations. Each measures approximately 8 x 5 1/4 x 9 7/8 inches.
The large domed hood section protects the pressure relief assembly from weather and debris while venting vapors outward, while the smaller capped cylinder houses the vacuum side of the vent system. Morrison Brothers, founded in 1855, became one of the leading manufacturers of petroleum handling and storage equipment, and examples such as these are representative of early industrial engineering and utility design from the late 19th to early 20th century. The heavy cast construction and Fig. 149 designation are consistent with early industrial petroleum equipment dating circa 1890–1925, possibly extending slightly later depending on application.
These vents display substantial industrial character with oxidized surfaces, aged patina, casting marks, and wear consistent with long-term use and outdoor exposure. Their sculptural form and authentic industrial appearance make them appealing for restoration projects, petroleum and railroad memorabilia collections, steampunk décor, architectural salvage, or industrial display installations. Each vent measures approximately 8 x 5 1/4 x 9 7/8 inches.
