Up for auction is an outstanding collection of three mid-century clear glass Kentucky bourbon decanters, each complete with its stopper intact. Leading the group is a 1969 Evan Williams "Run for the Roses" Decanter featuring an equestrian graphic of a jockey atop a horse draped in red roses, complete with its original neck collar band, glass-top stopper, tax stamp strip remnant, and base date code 65 7 69. The second bottle is a 1953 Old Heaven Hill "Bottled-in-Bond" Decanter (D 85 65 53 base code) featuring heavily embossed relief artwork of thoroughbred horses along a paddock fence, complete with its original flared glass stopper and tax stamp remnant. Completing the trio is a unique, unbranded 1951 "Banjo" Musical Instrument Flask Decanter (51 date code) with embossed strings, tuning pegs, and a round soundbox base, capped with a black top stopper.
All three decanters stand approximately 11 to 12 inches tall with stoppers inserted, offering a fantastic cross-section of mid-century Kentucky bourbon packaging art and equestrian-themed barware design.
Condition across the trio is very good overall. The clear glass bodies are free of cracks, and the stoppers fit securely. The printed jockey graphic on the Evan Williams bottle and the embossed horse scenes on the Heaven Hill bottle remain crisp and well-defined. The corks show expected light age-related wear, and the tax stamp remnants on the Evan Williams and Heaven Hill decanters retain nice vintage patina. Please inspect all high-resolution photos for close-up views of the embossed base codes, graphics, and cork seals before bidding.
