Up for auction is a unique piece of World War II history transformed into functional art: a U.S. Navy 40mm Bofors Anti-Aircraft Shell Casing repurposed into a tabletop incense holder. The spent brass shell casing is sharply dated October 1944 (10-1944) on the base and features clear headstamp markings, including 40MM MK 2, manufacturer logos, and the official U.S. Navy Anchor proof mark.

In classic Trench Art fashion, the original explosive projectile has been replaced with a custom hand-carved hardwood nose cone. The wooden projectile lifts off or features a top aperture designed to comfortably seat incense sticks or cones, allowing the piece to serve as both an intriguing conversation starter and a functional home scent burner. The heavy brass shell retains a rich, warm vintage patina that highlights its WWII origin.

6. BUYER’S PREMIUM & TAX: A 12% Buyer’s Premium and applicable sales tax will be added to all purchases.

8. EXTENDED BIDDING: Bids placed near closing automatically extend the lot by 3 minutes until bidding stops.
