Description

This magnificent two-piece corner cupboard commands attention with its dramatic broken-arch pediment crowned by a turned urn-and-spire finial flanked by scrolled rosette terminals — pure Chippendale theater in solid cherry wood. The upper section features a pair of nine-lite glazed doors with original brass skeleton keys intact, opening to reveal three gracefully serpentine-edged shelves set against a paneled interior that practically begs for your finest china. The lower section delivers serious storage with two raised-panel doors, a center drawer with an oval bail pull, and two additional shelves, all anchored by a handsome scalloped skirt on bracket feet. Construction details include clean dovetail joinery on the drawer box, suggesting quality craftsmanship consistent with mid-to-late 20th century American reproduction furniture in the colonial revival tradition; condition shows light surface scratches on the base skirt and minor finish wear at the door stiles, consistent with a well-loved family piece that has plenty of life and elegance remaining.
