Description

This stunning hand-colored engraving depicts the iconic Palazzi di Campidoglio in Rome, drawn and engraved by the celebrated Giuseppe Vasi, as confirmed by the 'G. Vasi dis.sc.' inscription in the lower left margin. The detailed caption below the image reads 'Palazzi di Campidoglio' and enumerates six key landmarks including the Scalinata della Chiesa di Araceli, Palazzo o Galleria di Statue, Palaz. del Senatore, Palaz. dei Conservatori, Salita verso Roma, and Salite verso Campo Vaccino, with plate number 80 visible at right. The piece is beautifully presented in a gold-leaf style carved frame with double mat in white and gold, and the image itself is rich with period detail including horse-drawn carriages, costumed figures, and the famous cordonata ramp leading to Michelangelo's piazza. Condition appears very good with vibrant applied color and a kraft paper dust cover on the reverse secured with corner clips, measuring approximately 13-3/4 by 18-3/4 inches overall.
