This is a genuine United States Naval Academy Midshipman's dress overcoat, custom tailored by the legendary Philadelphia uniform house Jacob Reed's Sons, fine uniform makers since 1824. The coat is navy blue wool, double-breasted with six gleaming gold eagle buttons and a satin lining that has seen better days but tells every story. The exterior shows honest age-related soiling, lint, and wear consistent with actual use and long storage, while the wool body remains structurally sound with no major tears or moth damage visible. A rare piece of American military academy heritage that belongs in a collection, a display case, or on the wall of someone who truly appreciates the history of the United States Navy.
