This is a French Louis XVI style dressing vanity, painted in a creamy ivory finish with gilt-highlighted applied gesso swag and ribbon cartouche decorations across all three drawer fronts, each fitted with original dark metal rosette knobs. The tri-fold mirror rises from the tabletop on hinges and is crowned with an ornate carved and gilded floral crest, while the elegant tapered and fluted legs terminate in spade feet worthy of a Versailles boudoir. The piece shows honest wear consistent with its age, including paint loss along the top edge revealing a warm reddish-brown base coat beneath, surface stains and ring marks on the tabletop, and some gesso loss on the applied decorations. The interior of the three drawers retains a rich warm mahogany-toned wood lining in solid condition, and the drawer construction appears to be machine-cut with plywood bottoms, suggesting an early-to-mid 20th century American or European production piece made in the French taste rather than a period original.
