Description

Step right up for one of the most charming survivors of mid-century childhood: a Pearl-Wick Gay Time toy chest wrapped in vivid quilted washable vinyl splashed with circus animals, carousel horses, clowns, giraffes, camels, lions in cages, and every big-top wonder imaginable. The metal box construction features a hinged padded lid with a safety chain to keep little fingers safe, original brass hinge hardware, and the original paper label inside the lid reading 'The Gift You'll Love for Years -- Gay Time, Another Pearl-Wick Product, Made of Quilted Washable Vinyl.' Measuring approximately 36 inches wide by 17 inches deep by 24 inches tall, this cheerful chest shows honest age-appropriate wear including rust along the metal base edges and some interior grime, while the vinyl fabric retains its colors and the graphic print remains vivid and largely intact. A genuine piece of postwar American nursery nostalgia, this is the kind of heirloom that stops every vintage lover dead in their tracks the moment they walk into the room.
