This handsome glider rocking chair hails from the legendary Tell City Chair Company of Tell City, Indiana, a craftsman institution founded in 1865 and beloved by American furniture collectors for generations. The original paper label is still intact and proudly displays Pattern 2955, Cover K378, and Finish Number 19 Heartland Oak, making identification and dating a breeze for the serious collector. The chair features beautifully turned spindles, sculpted arm rests, a high spindle back with finial-topped posts, and a spring-loaded glider mechanism mounted on a classic rocker base, all wearing a rich dark oak stain that shows gorgeous grain figuring throughout. The seat retains its original dark upholstered pad, the glider hardware is present and functional, and while the chair shows honest age-related wear consistent with a well-loved vintage piece, the solid quartersawn oak frame remains sturdy and characterful.
