Description
This sewing machine is a Singer Touch & Sew Special Zig-Zag Model 648, a mid-century domestic machine produced in the late 1960s to early 1970s. The streamlined body, horizontal ribbed front panel, and integrated stitch controls are consistent with Singer’s design language during that period. The Model 648 was part of the early Touch & Sew series, designed to offer push-button and dial-controlled zig-zag and decorative stitching in a compact, modernized format for home use.
The machine features adjustable stitch width and length controls, left-center-right needle positioning, reverse lever, built-in buttonhole function, and top-loading fashion disc system for decorative stitches. It includes its original carrying case and foot pedal. The unit measures approximately 19 inches wide, 7 3/4 inches deep, and 11 1/2 inches tall, making it a portable full-size machine suitable for tabletop use.
This machine was tested and runs. The motor engages properly and the machine operates as intended. Overall presentation reflects normal age-related cosmetic wear consistent with a machine of this era, while retaining its original components and classic mid-century styling.
