Gilbert Chemistry Experiment Lab No. 12049 Metal Case: This is the real deal, a mid-century dream wrapped in a lithographed metal bifold case featuring two boys living their best mad-scientist lives. The case opens to reveal color-printed interior panels advertising Scientific Crime Detection, Chromatography, and a Beam Type Chemical Balance. Condition shows honest patina and some rust spotting on the exterior, but the graphics remain vivid and the latch hardware is intact. A true showpiece for any vintage toy or science memorabilia collector.
Gilbert Chemistry Glassware and Equipment Set: Included with the kit is a remarkable array of original glassware, including a graduated cylinder with octagonal base, Erlenmeyer flask on a white cast stand, glass test tubes of multiple sizes, a glass dropper pipette, a glass funnel, a glass stirring rod, a right-angle glass tube with cork stopper, and a metal test tube rack. The glassware carries the Gilbert Saf-E-Test brand mark visible on at least one tube. Condition is used but largely intact with minor residue.
Gilbert Chemical Reagent Bottle Collection (Neatly Stored Set): The foam-lined tray holds approximately 18 labeled glass reagent bottles including Gilbert-branded Sodium Ferrocyanide No. 46, Aluminum Sulphate No. 1, Azurite No. 114, Borax No. 4, Phenolphthalein No. 33, Ammonium Chloride No. 2, Sodium Silicate No. 48, Sulphur No. 53, and Logwood No. 28, plus handwritten-label bottles of Sodium Thiosulphate, Iron Powder, Strontium Chloride, Tannic Acid, and Copper Sulfate. Most bottles retain their contents and original caps. A phenomenal time capsule of postwar amateur chemistry.
Loose Chemical Bottle Lot in Cardboard Box: A cardboard box contains a chaotic but glorious jumble of additional vintage chemical bottles from multiple brands including Gilbert and Perfect, loose molecular model pieces, a mortar bowl, wire gauze, experiment instruction pages, and various small containers in various states. Brands spotted include Perfect brand Magnesium Sulfate and additional unidentified reagents. This lot is sold as-is and is best suited for the dedicated collector who wants maximum parts for display or restoration.
Gilbert Fun With Chemistry Manual and Molecular Model Manual: Two original booklets accompany the set. The spiral-bound Gilbert Fun With Chemistry manual features colorful cover art with boys conducting experiments and the iconic Safety Tested Gilbert Hall of Science seal, with pages showing wear, browning, and separation consistent with decades of enthusiastic use. The Molecular Model Manual is a smaller saddle-stitched booklet with a striking black cover featuring a multicolor molecular diagram and the subtitle Build Models of Real Elements. Both manuals are present and legible, adding significant completeness value to this lot.
