This is a beautifully substantial antique Mission-style Morris rocking chair crafted from quartersawn oak, the hallmark wood of the Arts and Crafts movement that dominated American furniture design from roughly 1900 to 1925. The chair features the classic hallmarks of the style: wide flat arms with a notched corbel detail, vertical back slats visible from both front and rear, a wide crest rail, and bold curved rockers that are mortise-and-tenon constructed for serious longevity. Measurements captured in the photos show the back post height reaching approximately 40 inches tall and the arm height sitting at approximately 32 inches, placing this squarely in the generous proportions typical of period Stickley-era production or a high-quality contemporary maker working in the same tradition.
