This is a vintage metal 7-Up advertising sign produced as part of the brand’s late-1960s to early-1970s promotional materials. The single-sided tin sign measures approximately 35 x 15 inches and features bold, graphic artwork centered around the “7-Up” logo. The design incorporates a rainbow arc, sunburst elements, and stylized floral motifs, all rendered in bright, high-contrast colors typical of the period’s commercial design.
The sign is embossed, with the 7-Up lettering raised slightly from the surface, adding depth and visual interest. It is marked along the lower edge “Stout Sign Co., St. Louis, MO” and carries the date code “3-71,” indicating manufacture in March 1971. Stout Sign Company was a major American producer of commercial advertising signage and supplied metal signs for numerous national beverage brands during this era.
The sign features psychedelic-style "Pop Art" graphics including a rainbow, sunburst, and flowers, using vibrant colors. It measures approximately 35 by 15 inches. It is embossed, meaning the 7-Up logo is slightly raised from the surface. The sign is marked "Stout Sign Co, St. Louis, MO".
It was part of the highly successful "The Uncola" advertising campaign, which began in the late 1960s. The vibrant, counter-culture-inspired artwork, often attributed to the style of artist Peter Max (though sometimes credited to John Alcorn), was created to position 7-Up as a refreshing alternative to traditional colas.
This sign was intended for interior retail display, commonly mounted in grocery stores, convenience stores, or similar commercial environments. Its graphic style aligns with the visual language used during 7-Up’s “Uncola” advertising period, which emphasized bold color and contemporary aesthetics to distinguish the brand from traditional cola products. Wear, surface marks, and edge imperfections are consistent with age and commercial use.
