Here is a genuine time capsule from the early 1960s: the Philco Stereophonic Hi-Fi portable record player system, model G-1412-121, running on 117V AC at 60 cycles and drawing 75 watts of tube-powered glory. The two-piece setup consists of a cream and charcoal vinyl-covered suitcase-style turntable unit complete with a four-speed changer deck supporting 16, 33, 45, and S-78 RPM speeds, plus a mono/stereo selector switch and a stylus that appears to still be seated in the tonearm. The matching external speaker cabinet is finished in dark textured vinyl with a gold anodized control fascia bearing four rotary knobs labeled Bass, Loudness, Treble, and Balance, all framed by the elegant cursive Stereophonic script badge that screams mid-century modern sophistication. The unit shows honest age-related wear including yellowing of the turntable lid exterior, surface scuffs on the vinyl covering, and oxidation on the control panel, but the overall structure remains intact with working lid hinges, brass corner feet, and the original carry handle still in place.
