Description

Straight from the sun-drenched workshops of Italy, this magnificent R. Capodimonte demitasse set commands attention with its moody blue-grey glazed exterior and boldly raised relief scenes featuring cherubs, mythological figures, and dancing putti in true neoclassical fashion. Each of the twelve footed cups boasts a fantastical dragon-form handle that curls with theatrical confidence, while the interior gleams in warm ivory with a delicate gold rim that whispers of old-world luxury. The matching sugar bowl with its lidded crown sits like royalty among the ten coordinating saucers, all bearing the same raised garland and figural border design that ties the set together beautifully. Note that the sugar bowl lid has a small chip to the finial as visible in the images, and one cup handle appears to have a break, so sharp-eyed buyers will want to factor condition into their enthusiasm, but this is still a jaw-dropping display set that would stop any collector in their tracks.
