This sturdy antique American stoneware crock is a textbook example of 19th to early 20th century utilitarian pottery, featuring the classic two-tone treatment collectors go wild for — a rich, lustrous Albany slip glaze in deep oxblood brown crowning the upper half, sitting atop a raw, unglazed salt-white stoneware body below. The rolled rim is crisp and intact, the interior is fully glazed in that signature dark brown, and the flat unglazed base shows honest age-appropriate grime and fired-clay texture that screams authenticity. No maker's mark is visible on the base, which is common for smaller regional potteries of the era, but the form, clay body, and glaze style are entirely consistent with Midwestern or Appalachian production.
