A remarkable blend of presidential and baseball history. This framed display features an authentic Calvin Coolidge autograph, paired with a historic photograph capturing U.S. President Calvin Coolidge shaking hands with Washington Senators pitching legend Walter Johnson on June 18, 1925.
The image was taken during the presentation of the American League diploma to the Senators, commemorating their 1924 American League pennant victory. Coolidge, a known fan of the game, attended multiple ballgames during his presidency—including Game 1 of the 1924 World Series.
Walter Johnson stands as one of baseball’s greatest pitchers, and he holds a unique distinction:
He pitched in seven Opening Day games with a sitting president in attendance—more than any pitcher in MLB history.
This photo highlights a rare and iconic interaction between a U.S. president and one of baseball’s most dominant figures during the golden era of the sport. The autograph is elegantly framed beneath the photograph, professionally presented and ready for display.
