Description

The GraLab Model 168 Universal Timer by Dimco-Gray Company of Dayton, Ohio is one of the most iconic and beloved pieces of analog darkroom equipment ever produced, and this vintage example brings all that old-school charm in spades. Built like a tank in a textured black wrinkle-finish steel case, this electro-mechanical timer features a large, easy-to-read 60-minute dial face, a center dial knob for setting exposure time, an Outlet Plug toggle switch marked Open and Closed, an On-Off toggle switch, a top-mounted reset lever, and a side-mounted duplex outlet for powering your enlarger or other darkroom devices. Specifications on the rear data plate confirm Model No. 168, 125 AC Volts, 60 Cycle, 750 Watts maximum external load, and U.S. Patent No. 2,562,546 — Made in U.S.A. Condition shows honest age-related wear including surface grime, some oxidation on the dial hand, and general patina consistent with decades of darkroom service, but the mechanical timer function and iconic aesthetic remain intact and ready for display or use.
