This is a genuine piece of American industrial history -- a five-drawer vertical filing cabinet manufactured by The General Fireproofing Company of Youngstown, Ohio, bearing their iconic winged GF brass maker's plate proudly riveted to the top. The cabinet wears its original blush-tan enamel paint with the honest patina of decades of hard office work, including surface scratches on the top and sides, some paint chips near the base, and a few minor dents on the rear panel -- all consistent with a piece of this age and pedigree. Each drawer rolls on its original hardware and features the classic brass-toned label holder and bail-style pull handles that define the GF aesthetic, while the dark olive-toned drawer interiors retain their original finish complete with file rod suspension rails. The rear panel shows two bolt holes suggesting this cabinet was once wall-anchored for safety, and the overall structure remains impressively solid and functional -- a testament to why the General Fireproofing Company built furniture that outlasted the company itself.
