This decorative porcelain bowl is crafted in the Imari style, richly hand-painted with floral motifs in shades of red, green, black, and turquoise, accented with gold detailing. The interior features alternating floral cartouches and patterned panels surrounding a central medallion of blossoms, while the exterior echoes these designs in a continuous motif. The bold palette and intricate detailing are characteristic of Imari-inspired wares produced during the late 20th century for the decorative art market. Measuring approximately 6" high and 12" in diameter, this piece combines both visual vibrancy and traditional Japanese design elements.
The bowl rests on a detachable gilt metal base with four ornate feet shaped like stylized leaves, adding both stability and an elevated presentation. The underside bears a red maker’s mark and retains its original label stating “For Decorative Purposes Only – Not for Food Use,” confirming its intended function as a display piece. While not an antique, this bowl captures the enduring appeal of Japanese export porcelain and serves as an eye-catching centerpiece for display in a variety of interior settings.
