Description

This enchanting partial tea service features pieces from two prestigious makers united by delicate floral and botanical motifs with gleaming gold trim. The set includes a sugar bowl with lid, creamer, an oval scallop-edged tray, two teacups, and a stack of plates in varying sizes -- everything you need to host a tea party that would make your grandmother weep with joy. Condition is excellent overall with the tray showing some crazing on the reverse, visible in the bottom shots. These are the kinds of pieces that spend decades locked in a china cabinet only to be discovered and fall in love with all over again.

The Hutschenreuther China pieces are marked with the Maple Leaf pattern number 7578 and bear the classic Hutschenreuther Selb Bavaria backstamp in green, featuring the iconic rooster logo. The plates display trailing pink and green maple leaves across a soft white ground with scalloped gold-edged rims -- refined, romantic, and quintessentially old-world European.

The Haviland France tray is marked on the reverse with the Haviland France backstamp alongside a retailer mark for J.D. Purcell Co. of Lexington, KY, placing it in the late 19th to early 20th century retail era. It features sprays of delicate pink blossoms on a creamy ivory ground with a scalloped gold rim, and shows the characteristic crazing of an authentically aged piece.

4. ABANDONED ITEMS: Items not picked up without prior Auctioneer approval may be considered abandoned and resold, donated, or disposed of without refund.

5. WE ARE NOT MOVERS: Bring adequate help, tools, packing materials, and transportation. Loading assistance may be available for an additional fee.

6. BUYER’S PREMIUM & TAX: A 12% Buyer’s Premium and applicable sales tax will be added to all purchases.

8. EXTENDED BIDDING: Bids placed near closing automatically extend the lot by 3 minutes until bidding stops.
