Description
The star of this set is a 24 Karat gold-plated 1883 Liberty Head 'No Cents' Nickel, the infamous Racketeer Nickel that fooled shopkeepers into giving $5 gold coin change for a 5-cent purchase. Presented in a handsome First Commemorative Mint folio case complete with the full Josh Tatum story printed inside, this is a conversation piece that doubles as a history lesson. The folio is in excellent display condition with rich sepia photography and bold period-style graphics throughout.
The second piece is a 1933 Gold Double Eagle Replica from the Historical Gold Eagle Replica Archival Collection, produced by American Mint as a Limited Edition. Struck in copper layered in 24k gold, this proof-quality replica measures 40mm in diameter and weighs a substantial 32 grams, housed in a clear acrylic slab. The reverse is clearly marked COPY in compliance with the Hobby Protection Act, making this a beautiful and legal tribute to one of the most legendary and elusive coins in American numismatic history.
