This brass and copper military-style bugle appears to be an early–mid 20th century example modeled after U.S. Regulation bugles used by the Army, Boy Scouts, and military bands. Its construction features a classic single-loop body with soldered ferrules, a flared brass bell, and a detachable nickel-plated mouthpiece connected by a small safety chain—typical of earlier handmade or small-batch production rather than modern imports. The horn measures approximately 12" in length with a 4" bell diameter and stands about 5 ½" high, matching the scale of field bugles used before mass-produced post-war versions.
The mixed-metal design—copper body with brass bell and trim—was common in pre-1960 bugles, offering durability with a distinctive warm patina over time. The solder joints, hand-formed bends, and aged finish all suggest genuine age rather than reproduction. There are no visible maker’s marks in the photos, which is typical of many early civilian and military-contract bugles, as numerous small manufacturers produced unbranded versions for schools, Scout troops, civic organizations, and parade bands.
This piece is ideal for collectors of military memorabilia, vintage musical instruments, patriotic décor, or anyone looking for an authentic display bugle with rich color and character. Its warm copper patina, brass accents, and classic silhouette make it a standout decorative piece whether displayed on its own or as part of a collection.
