Here is a stunning matched pair of vintage fiberglass shell armchairs in the classic Eames DAX armshell form, mounted on custom counter-height chrome wire bases that put the seat height at approximately 24 inches off the floor, with overall chair height reaching around 39 inches. The shells are cast in that unmistakable Elephant Gray fiberglass, showing the gorgeous exposed fiberglass strand texture on the exterior that collectors go absolutely wild for, and both shells display decades of honest patina including surface scratches and the characteristic darkening of aged resin that only time can produce. The chrome wire bases are a non-standard counter-height configuration, making this pair genuinely rare and highly desirable for kitchen island or bar counter use, as standard Eames bases sit considerably lower.
