Description

This is 'The Fully Illustrated Universal Stamp Album' published by Grossman Stamp Co., Inc. out of New York, and it is the real deal for any philatelist worth their perforation gauge. The cover is a gorgeous mid-century graphic explosion featuring a globe, ocean liner, streamlined train, and propeller aircraft rendered in bold blue and orange, with illustrated stamp borders running along all edges. The interior pages are well-populated with stamps from Czechoslovakia and Bohemia and Moravia visible in the open spread, showing a healthy mix of used stamps in various colors and denominations mounted throughout. The back cover features a full Index and Directory of Countries along with advertisements for companion albums including The Premier, The Coronet, and the Transworld Stamp Album, helping date this piece to the mid-20th century.

The bonus lot includes a small plastic bag of loose mixed stamps that accompanies the album. Visible in the bag are stamps from Germany featuring the Heuss portrait series in pink and red tones, a U.S. stamp or envelope fragment marked 'U.S. 18D,' and several other international and domestic stamps in varying condition. These loose stamps are an ideal starter assortment for a new collector or a handy supplement for anyone looking to fill gaps in their existing collection. Condition is mixed as expected for loose vintage stamps, with some showing edge wear and toning.
