Description

These stout binoculars are a time capsule from the late Victorian or Edwardian era, constructed of brass barrels with nickel-plated fittings that have developed a gorgeous mottled green and gold patina over more than a century of existence. The Galilean optical design features large objective lenses mounted in wide nickel rings, with rounded eyepiece cups and a central focusing wheel finished in a distinctive dark red knurled knob that stands out beautifully against the aged metal. Strap lugs on each barrel suggest these were designed for serious field use, possibly military or naval, and the overall width measures approximately 5 inches across the objective end, with a height of roughly 4 inches, confirming a robust and purposeful build. The lenses remain intact and the focusing mechanism is present, making this a displayable piece of optical history that any collector of militaria, scientific instruments, or Victorian antiques would be proud to own.
