This magnificent large-scale Chinese porcelain fishbowl, copyright 1989 by Kinder-Harris, commands attention with its hand-painted red-crowned crane rendered in dramatic black, white, and gilt gold against a finely pebbled white ground exterior. The interior tells its own story with a beautifully painted grisaille scene of swimming koi carp among lotus pads and aquatic botanicals, all framed by a bold black and gold reticulated collar rim. The whole spectacular piece rides atop an ebonized carved wood stand with scrolling cabriole legs and a central ring stretcher, and the ensemble is finished with a thick round beveled glass top that transforms it into a fully functional side table measuring approximately 20 inches in diameter and standing around 20 inches tall.
