Here is a matched pair of armchairs made by the Davis Cabinet Company of Nashville, Tennessee, a respected American furniture manufacturer with roots going back to the early twentieth century. Each chair features a classic Louis XVI-inspired frame in warm walnut-toned hardwood, complete with carved floral rosette accents at the seat rail corners, elegantly tapered and fluted front legs, and gracefully curved open arms that sweep down to scrolled terminals. The oval backs are fitted with hand-woven open cane in excellent original condition, and the drop-in seat cushions are upholstered in a blush and cream striped fabric that shows some age-appropriate staining and light soiling but remains structurally intact and fully functional. The original Davis Cabinet Company paper labels are present on the undersides of the seats, one reading Chair No. 7-761, Order No. 13553, made at their 5th Street Nashville facility, and the fill tag confirms 100 percent polyurethane foam cushioning registered under New York license No. 2005 and Tennessee compliance. The chairs measure approximately 37 inches tall overall and the seat height is approximately 18 to 19 inches, making them a versatile and handsome pair ready for a dining room, desk, or accent role in any traditionally styled interior.
