This plaster bust is an authorized reproduction issued by the National Gallery of Art and created by Alva Museum Replicas, Inc., New York. It depicts the Bust of a Boy by Renaissance sculptor Desiderio da Settignano (1429–1464), originally located in the Oratorio dei Vanchetoni in Florence and now housed in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. The sculpture captures the tender and introspective expression of a young boy, exemplifying Desiderio’s mastery of naturalism and delicate modeling in marble. This reproduction measures approximately 12 inches high and 10 inches wide and retains its original felt base with identifying label from the museum collection.
Alva Museum Replicas produced limited runs of historically significant works for cultural institutions during the mid-20th century, making their pieces collectible in their own right. This bust carries both decorative appeal and educational value, faithfully representing one of the early Renaissance’s most celebrated sculptural portraits. The piece is ideal for collectors of fine art reproductions, students of Renaissance sculpture, or those seeking a classical accent for the home or office.
