Description
This stunning Asian black lacquer jewelry armoire cabinet on stand is an absolute feast for the eyes, featuring hand-applied mother of pearl inlay figures depicting elegant court ladies in flowing robes set against a backdrop of gilded pagodas, weeping willows, and mountain landscapes rendered in rich gold detailing. The lift-top compartment reveals a mirrored interior with red silk brocade lining and a shallow tray, while the front door swings open to expose six pull-out drawers all lined in matching red silk brocade fabric with ring roll inserts and necklace hooks mounted inside the door panel. Every face of this cabinet tells a different story, with bamboo and orchid motifs gracing the sides and a gorgeous lotus pond scene with a heron painted across the gilded top. Condition is consistent with age and use, including lacquer chips and wear at the base junction and stand apron as shown in the detail photos, but the decorative panels, inlay figures, and interior linings remain vibrant and largely intact.
