Description

This is the real deal, ink-stained and proud of it -- a genuine antique wooden letterpress printer's type case tray complete with scattered remnants of lead movable type still rattling around in the compartments. The tray features the classic subdivided layout with both larger bottom compartments and smaller upper cells, designed to organize fonts by character and size, exactly as Gutenberg intended (give or take a few centuries). The back bears hand-stenciled or painted markings referencing Detroit, Michigan, giving this piece a documented industrial provenance that most decorator pieces can only dream about. Measuring approximately 16 inches wide and 11 inches tall with roughly 2.5 inches of depth, this well-worn beauty shows honest age with a chipped corner and darkened patina throughout -- all the character you want, none of the fakery you don't.
