Description

This handsome banjo-style wall barometer by Jason, made in Germany, is the kind of instrument that makes a living room look like it belongs to someone who actually knows what a millibar is. The large central aneroid barometer dial features a stunning brass face with weather predictions ranging from Stormy through Rain, Changeable, Fair, and Very Dry, with a pressure scale running from 28 to 31 inches of mercury and a secondary pointer for trend tracking. Riding along the elegant walnut-stained hardwood neck is a Fahrenheit thermometer scaled from 10 to 120 degrees F, set into a gold-toned brass plate with decorative script flourishes. Completing the trio at the base is a relative humidity hygrometer scaled 20 to 100 percent with a NORMAL zone marked, also made in Germany, and the back of the piece shows a sawtooth wall hanger, a painted metal barometer housing, and ventilated hygrometer cover confirming solid mid-century German construction throughout.
