This pair of vintage brass uplights dates from approximately the 1955–1975 period and reflects the clean, functional styling found in mid-century industrial lighting. Each fixture features a tall, spun-brass conical shade paired with a heavy cast-metal weighted base—an unmistakable construction style used in commercial and theatrical accent lighting throughout the mid-20th century. With their warm patina and original red rubber wiring, they retain the authentic character and utilitarian charm typical of display fixtures produced by manufacturers such as Prescolite, Lightolier’s industrial division, or similar American makers of the era.
Originally designed as uplights for department store windows, theater staging, and architectural accent illumination, these fixtures were intended to cast a strong upward beam that highlights art, merchandise, or architectural elements. Their understated industrial form and substantial weight make them excellent candidates for restoration, rewiring, or creative repurposing. Despite surface wear consistent with age and use, the brass cones remain structurally sound and display an appealing vintage finish that collectors and decorators appreciate.
Measuring approximately 13¼ inches tall, with a 5¾-inch top diameter and a 3½-inch weighted base, this matching pair offers impressive scale and presence. They are ideal for mid-century interiors, studio lighting setups, display environments, or design projects seeking authentic industrial materials. Whether restored to working condition or used as sculptural decor, these mid-century brass uplights bring a distinctive industrial aesthetic from a bygone era of American commercial design.
