Description
Straight out of the golden age of American bedroom furniture, this stout five-drawer chest carries a stenciled back panel reading S-2210 CHEST OAK 55-11-85, placing its origins firmly in mid-century production and finished in a classic limed or cerused oak veneer that was all the rage in postwar homes. The case features a mix of hardware styles including a sleek elongated bar pull on the top drawer, a matching bar pull on the oversized bottom drawer, and petite oval brass-toned knobs on the three middle drawers, all with that wonderful aged patina that no reproduction can fake. Construction quality shines through in the dovetailed drawer corners, solid secondary wood drawer boxes, and smooth-running center-guided slides that still function reliably decades later. Cosmetically, the piece shows honest vintage wear including water ring marks on the top surface, scattered surface scratches and scuffs across the drawer fronts and sides.
