    Description

This clear glass counter jar features a bold red graphic advertising Gordon’s Fresh Foods, with a stylized delivery truck and the slogan “Trucks Serving the Best” printed beneath. The cylindrical body is topped with a fitted glass lid featuring a tiered design and rounded knob finial. The graphic wraps prominently across the front of the jar, with clean white lettering set against the red truck silhouette, creating a strong mid-century commercial display aesthetic. The jar measures approximately 10 inches in diameter and 14 inches tall overall, including the lid.

Constructed of thick, clear molded glass, this type of container was designed for countertop merchandising in grocery stores, markets, and delis. The substantial proportions and wide mouth allowed for easy access to bulk items such as potato chips, pretzels, or similar snack products. The lid is recessed to sit securely within the rim, helping maintain freshness while still allowing frequent access in a retail setting. The scale and clarity of the graphics suggest it was intended as a branded point-of-sale display piece.

Gordon’s was a regional snack and food distributor active in the mid-20th century, and jars of this type are generally associated with the 1940s through 1960s era of grocery counter merchandising. The delivery truck motif and typography are consistent with that period’s commercial advertising design. Examples of similar glass advertising jars were often produced by large American glass manufacturers supplying store fixtures, though these are typically unmarked. Based on the construction, printing style, and form, this jar likely dates to the mid-20th century, circa 1950s–1960s.
