Description
This sofa is a vintage tuxedo-style piece from the 1970s, defined by its squared silhouette with arms and back at the same height. The form is structured and architectural, with straight lines and a low, grounded presence. The upholstery is a bold geometric patchwork in velvet or velour, arranged in repeating shapes that create a strong visual rhythm across the entire surface.
The design aligns closely with Mid-Century Modern and post–Mid-Century Modern interiors, particularly the modernist lounge furniture style popularized in the late 1960s and 1970s the overall proportions and tuxedo form are commonly compared to sofas associated with designers such as Milo Baughman, and the graphic textile aesthetic is reminiscent of high-impact modern upholstery often seen in Jack Lenor Larsen–style fabrics. These references are stylistic comparisons only and not statements of authorship.
The sofa shows wear consistent with age and use, including expected wear to velvet upholstery such as light abrasion, flattening of pile, or minor fading in high-contact areas. Cushion condition, frame integrity, and upholstery seams should be evaluated in person. The piece presents as a distinctive vintage statement sofa suitable for a Mid-Century Modern, eclectic, or retro-inspired interior.
