Description

This is the legendary Topper Toys Johnny Speed remote-controlled car, a large-scale plastic Jaguar XKE coupe finished in bright red with gold script badging on the hood and a molded driver figure seated behind the wheel. The car features spoke-style wheels, a clear windshield canopy with chrome effect trim (showing age and separation), side marker lights, and a detailed interior with a black steering wheel all hallmarks of this late 1960s wired RC toy that wowed kids on Christmas morning. The undercarriage reveals the original wired steering mechanism with metal rack, a rubber drive belt, and green wiring intact, while the rear-engine bay shows the motor housing with wires running to the included red-and-black controller box, which retains its speed lever and directional markings. Condition is well-played chrome trim is heavily worn and flaking, the canopy framing shows foil tape repairs, the driver figure has surface deterioration, and the front bumper chrome is largely gone but the bones are all here and this remains a showpiece of American toy history.
