These two commemorative bronze coins were designed by artist H. Alvin Sharpe and reflect historical and cultural themes from American frontier history. The left coin, issued in 1967 to celebrate Kentucky's 175th anniversary (1792–1967), features the inscription “Out of Danville A Proud Commonwealth” and depicts profiles of three "Kentuckians," including a Native American and a frontiersman, symbolizing the state's early settlers. The right coin, titled "Silent Pardners," shows a prospector leading a mule and holding a rifle, evoking imagery of the Old West and frontier companionship, with Sharpe's signature visible. These pieces are part of Sharpe’s artistic and numismatic legacy celebrating American heritage.
